Barnes & Noble

Barnes & Noble Lexington Avenue:
Dana was invited by the Ideal School Bookfair to participate
in the all day, action-packed event.   The children formed a human choo-choo train to chug through the store to announce each presentation.   Dana read, engaged the children in thoughtful discussions about Think...then Jump™, signed books and provided activities.

Barnes & Noble Yonkers:
Dana was thrilled to be invited to her local Barnes & Noble
to participate in PJ/Bedtime Story night.  The children came dressed in their pajamas and cozied up for story time. Proceeds from the evening benefited
underprivileged children.

Barnes & Noble Union Square:
Invited by Children's Workshop School Bookfair, Dana
spent the morning with the children reading, discussing
and imagining big things together.  A portion of the book sales benefited the students at CWS.

Huntington Book Revue

Breast Cancer Fund Raising Event
Dana had the good fortune of being able to read from and sign her award-winning picture book, The Grumpy Frog at
the Book Revue, which was named Winner-1st Place Best of
LI Book Store 2009 in Long Island Press. The event was a fun-filled Sunday for children and their families.  After reading the book, answering questions from the children, Dana provided games & activities all geared around the story.

It was also a fundraiser for Friends for Life Foundation, which focused on the needs of its members who are breast cancer survivors, caregivers, family members, volunteers and of course...their Kids for Life kids. Members who are currently going through treatment not only benefit from the many free services and guest speaker sessions that are offered, but they also benefit from the friendships formed, the positive and warm social environment and the inspiration that the members provide one another.

Greenburgh Nature Center

Winter's Reading
Since the Greenburgh Nature Center served as the actual inspiration for the location in The Grumpy Frog, GNC invited Dana to present story time/book signing event during the winter 2008. Although there was a huge snowstorm, the turn out was fantastic and this was the start of many invites back to GNC.

Story time & Meet the Frogs
Dana’s second invite to GNC was a fun-filled spring day filled with story time, imagination activities and meeting live frogs from the nature center.  Both children and parents were enthusiastic participants.  It was a great day!
(Beautiful in every way.)

An Imaginative Nature Walk
Dana led the children & parents on a multisensory learning excursion through the Nature Center's beautiful grounds. Demonstrating how inspiration can be found in every nook and corner,  they felt, listened, smelled and viewed nature in a whole new way.  They visited the spot that inspired Ms. Perri's first book, The Grumpy Frog, where she read her story aloud. Exploring with each step, Dana encouraged the children to use their senses and their curiosity to inspire their own creative spirits.

Kico Kids

Kico Kids, a children's specialty clothing site, had a pop-up store in NYC's Chelsea Market from August '08 to July '09. During the time, the store carried The Grumpy Frog, where sales soared. On Sundays at the store, they would have story time for the children. Dana was asked to bring The Grumpy Frog to life for a Sunday story time in NYC.

Homeward Bound

As part of a Mother's Day Special, Dana was invited to hold a book signing event at Homeward Bound, a beautiful, high-end home furnishing and clothing store. Although it was a rainy day, everyone curled up on couches to listen to a good story, draw their own creations and win a few prizes.

Jungle Bob's Reptile World

What a perfect setting for reading the adventures of Rana the frog.  He felt right at home at Jungle Bob's Reptile World.  It was a gorgeous summer day with a wonderfully eager group of animal lovers.  Talking about Think...then Jump™ with the children helped keep them mindful during the day's many fun activities.

This was the first of several invitations to Brookside Elementary. On this evening of PALS (Parent Access to Literacy Success) Dana was the featured author for story time, exchanging ideas with parents and children on fun ways to read and increase imagination. This evening was also presented bilingually with the help of a Spanish teacher. Dana has been invited back to Brookside for small group workshops discussing the writer’s process and inspiration.

Mater Academy

Mater Academy in Miami, FL is a fantastic Charter school.  Working directly with the Principle on creating a program, Dana was asked to present a large group assembly to K–1 and small group workshops for grades 2–3.

Stone Barns

Dana was asked to create a story time and activities for a wide age range of children for a Fun at the Farm event. Children in attendance ranged from 2 years old to 11 and Dana offered an engaging story time session and also provided a wide selection of age appropriate games and activities for the children.

Warner Library

EPTA president of Tarrytown invited Dana to participate in Special Read-a-thon event at the Warner Library in Tarrytown, NY. There were plenty of activities and Dana was the feature author of the day, reading to children ages 6 months to 12.
